1989 Custom Built Tripp 38' by Holby Marine
Voodoo 2 (originally known as Promises) was custom built by Holby Marine and has spent most of her life sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. Having sailed on and against this racing yacht for many years, I can speak first-hand as to her quality and performance. Designed in the early IMS rating era, the Tripp 38 benefits from a very fair hull shape producing an attractive and classic yacht. The wide-open cockpit is comfortable and easy to maneuver; designed for fluid crew work.
Voodoo has been optimized for windward/leeward course racing but is also competitive in distances races having done such races as Annapolis-Newport and Newport-Bermuda. She is an upwind machine, tacking and easy to sail downwind in full control. In short, she is a great boat.

Hull/Deck Construction Details
Custom built by Holby Marine and Mark Lindsay, the Tripp 38 is light and stiff, owing largely to the excellent construction and design. The construction utilizing an aluminum grid bonded to the interior hull which carries all the rig and engine load in addition to adding stiffness.
The Tripp 38 has 6 structural bulkheads in addition to two longitudinal stringers which double as bunk/settee sides. All interior bulkheads are either nomex or foam cored as are the hull and deck.
